Señora Steele Global Language Merit Scholarship

Elaine Steele-Burcham (“Señora Steele”) passionately served as a Spanish teacher and the World Language/Social Science division head at Buffalo Grove High School (BGHS) from 1978-2002.

Throughout her tenure she positively impacted the lives of thousands of BGHS students, many of whom she remains close friends with today. To honor her BGHS legacy, the Señora Steele Global Language Merit Scholarship annually awards financial assistance to a BGHS college-bound senior who is passionate about language study and committed to higher education. This scholarship aims to benefit students who demonstrate both academic excellence and a genuine interest in world languages.
