YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE TODAY!

Dr. Dan M Moore, taught at Prospect for 31 years, where he taught Spanish and Geography as well as being the Knights fast pitch Softball coach for 15 years.

'Doc', as he was known in 214 and softball circles, passed away on January 11, 2022.  He put himself through Southern Illinois University through their student/work program as well as playing semi-pro softball during his undergrad summers.   He later went on to teach in Missouri where he completed a masters at SIU.   He started teaching at Prospect in 1965; retired from PHS in 1996.  He continued to substitute teach until 2009.  He might actually have been the first 214 teacher to achieve a PhD while teaching full time.  He attended Interamerican University in Saltillo, Mexico for seven summers to complete his coursework and received his doctorate in 1969.  This scholarship has been created to represent ‘Doc’s’ passions – Education and coaching Softball.

The Dr. Dan M. 'Doc' Moore Memorial Scholarship is administered by District 214 Education Foundation , and students are selected by the Family and Friends of the Moore's.
